FAQ
I am new to counselling. What can I expect?
Welcome! Whatever it took you to get to here, consider this an already major step in your journey to working through challenges you might be facing. When you go to book a session, you will be asked to fill out a short intake form and you will be asked to put a credit card on file. You will not be charged for your initial free consult, and will be automatically charged for any subsequent counselling sessions. In our initial consult, we can meet, chat about what you might be looking for, and hear about my approach in the counselling process and look at how it might help with what you're facing. While I am confident in my abilities to work with a range of topics, especially if you have resonated with what you've seen on this site, there may be other factors that limit our work together (my own scope of practice, conflict in schedules, etc.). It is important to remember that counselling is your personal journey, and you have autonomy in who you allow on board.
Yes! As a Registered Clinical Counsellor and professional member of BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, most insurance providers will accept claims submitted and provide the reimbursement you are entitled to (dependent on your personal coverage and benefits plan). While I will work with you through questions or concerns, it is your responsibility to understood what coverage you have. A receipt will be issued after every sessions which can be submitted to insurance for reimbursement. At this time, I do not offer direct billing with insurance.
Yes! I work with children 10 years and up at my in-person office space at South Delta Counselling and Wellness. Virtually and downtown at The Performance Clinic I work with adults (18+). If you would like to book with me for you or your child in-person, please email info@southdeltacounselling.com and ask to book with me. You can also email me directly here to discuss what you are looking for.
Yes, I offer limited spaces for individuals that are eligible for a sliding scale (reduced fees) in an effort to keep my services accessible to those facing financial hardships or other barriers. If you would like to discuss options for reduced fees, please reach out via email or we can always discuss this in our initial free consultation. Keep in mind, as spaces are limited, the request cannot always be guaranteed. I will work with you as best I can to make services accessible, or help you find alternatives for what may work best for you.
48 hours of notice is required for changes or cancellations to your bookings without additional costs. There is a lot of work that goes into the therapeutic process beyond the time we share together in session, so whenever possible, as much notice is appreciated. Your time may be able to be allotted to someone else waiting for a session. Changes or cancellations to bookings under the 48 hour window are subject to the full session fee. Of course, there will be exceptions made on a case-by-case basis for emergencies and illnesses that happen last minute and are beyond your control. Please still try to provide as much notice as possible in these circumstances.

For late appointments, there is a 15-minute grace period to show up to your appointment, or get in touch with me (I will email or call after 5-10 minutes to check in). After 15-minutes of not hearing from you, the session will be considered a no-show and you will be subject to the full session fee.
